Troy's family has moved to Waterloo in to a 150 year old farm house. Houses can have quite a history but moving sure is hard.
This house was build with gold rush money. According to the previous owner, the original owner was in love with a daughter of Mr. Echart, of the Echart library in Auburn. She told him that she would only marry him , if he build her a new home. To do this, he and his brother went off to California for the gold rush. They must have done some what well, because the bought many acres and built this house and the house a 1/4 of the mile up the road. The house stayed in their family for a couple generation's and them was purchased by the Graites. The Graites lived in the house for about 7 years. They did a lot of renovation and added a 2 car garage and a master bedroom off of the living room. They informed us that when they first purchased the house, that it had no kitchen. The original kitchen was a summer kitchen and it was missing. They converted the dinning room in to a kitchen adn the original living room in to a formal dinning room. We have already started doing more renovations. So far we have Cleaned out the study, added a ceiling fan and repainted. Moved the utility room from out of the living room and in to the old maids courters.Gutted the kitchen and replaced all of the cabinets. Cleaned up the butler's pantry and repainted it.
It looks much better, but there is still much to go.
